BIO: Rupert is a fully qualified (PGCE and QTS) teacher and 1:1 tutor with 16+ years of experience in education. Many of those years have been spent working with SEN students with a mix of conditions such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, ASC, and ODD as well as those who have social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. Rupert also has his own diagnosis of ADHD and is on the diagnostic pathway for Autism. He therefore has first-hand experience of living with the challenges that can come from executive function difficulties and is well adept at finding creative ways to overcome them. Rupert is able to, and passionate about providing students with strategies for improving their learning.

TEACHING STYLE: Rupert’s tutoring style centers around the unique gifts, interests, and back story of his students. This means creating a safe space for learning where the child can be their authentic self.  Rupert finds in such an environment students become more interested in and take ownership of their academic progress. In terms of the subject content, Rupert ensures that no matter how easy or complex the topic is, it is broken down into bite-sized chunks. During that breakdown, students are made aware of the skills they do have already, and where they need to master something new. Rupert also makes sure that students see the relevance of their studies and how they fit into their wider holistic academic and life journeys. This encourages motivation and determination to overcome their perceived roadblocks.
